talon - the software i use for eye tracking and voice control. mac/windows/linux. runs on my dual core laptop from 2012, it’ll probably work for you too.
Notably, check out the formats wiki even if you’re not interested in competing, its got a great overview of tools and formats you’ve probably never heard of. Mostly audio formats, but there’s some other ones.
modarchive - One of the world’s largest collections of music modules, operating since the 90s.
radio.garden - huge collection of internet radio organoized by geolocation. spin a 3D globe and end up listening to some weird radio stations you’ve never heard of.
hbasm stereoizer - Free no-nonsense stereoizer that goes out of its way to avoid mono phase issues. Paid version has a few extra features. 32-bit windows only.
bandcrash - Bandcamp-style batch encoder and web player for independent musicians. You can use this to distribute your music on your own website, itch.io, neocities, etc.
UhhyouWebSynthesizers - Lots of cool synths that run in your browser and render to wave files. mash the random button and save the good ones :3
broke-ass guitars - “You’ve seen how much bad information there is out there on the subject and so have I. That is why I made this site. I took the best information I could find, geared it toward everyday players so you can fix your broke-ass guitar.”
msx iti collection - massive iti (impulse tracker instrument) collection. great if you’re into trackers.
samples.kb6.de - the largest drum samples library on the web.
Trackers
renoise - Beautifully designed tracker with a wonderful array of built-in effects, and plugin support. Paid, though there is a generous demo. x86/aarch64, mac/windows/linux. The most DAW-like tracker.
OpenMPT - The go-to tracker for making module files (.mod, .xm, .it) in current year. It’s even got VST support. Runs well in wine on linux. Difficult to theme the native UI elements if you don’t like light mode.
SchismTracker - A clone of the legendary DOS program, ImpulseTracker. Faithful to the UI look and feel, but with some extra features, and a variant of the OpenMPT sound engine. Try this if you bounce off OpenMPT. This one’s 100% sample-based (try the waveform pack mentioned above with it!).
Furnace - Chiptune tracker that emulates a vast selection of hardware chips, and emulates them well. Pick a console to use it’s chip, or combine the chips from multiple consoles in a single project.
Little Sound DJ - The gameboy tracker. It’s absolutely incredible. A very influential tracker with a unique gamepad interface that many others have replicated due to its ease of use. Wavetable synthesis, drum samples, incredible flexibility. It’s worth trying.
erowid - Compendium of safety and usage information about pschoactive substances and psychonautic techniques, along with self-submitted experience reports.
psychonaut wiki - Similar to erowid, a wiki of safety and usage information about psychoactive substances and psychonautic techniques.
touhou wiki - Wiki for cute magical girls and their supporters.
Flora of North America - A botanical reference of ALL the plants north of Mexico. Which is probably way more than you realize.
indiepocalypse - a monthly indie game anthology/compilation sort of thing. You can submit to it too!
with the last moonbeam - really pretty GBA game where you play MOSS, a mender. A game about talking to people, thinking about the past, and trying to fix things.
apotris - incredible GBA block-stacker. Ridiculously customizable, good sountrack, beautiful effects, includes The Zone mechanic.
devkitPro - Homebrew toolchains for Nintendo wii, gamecube, ds, gba, gamepark gp32 and Nintendo Switch

GameBoy Pan Docs - “This document, started in early 1995, is considered the single most comprehensive technical reference to Game Boy available to the public”
IQ Data Explained - Great introduction to the concept of signals encoded as IQ complex time-domain data
Introduction to Signal Processing by Sophocles J. Orfanidis - Incredible resource for learning about digital signal processing, with a huge number of fundamentals, example filters, and work problems. I have a paper copy of this from the linked lulu page, it’s well worth it. I wish I had this book years ago.
